Today, is a glorious day in the State of Arkansas. Today...in the Natural State, at least...is a day, that will live in Prehistory. Just a couple of hours ago, Governor Asa Hutchinson signed HCR1003. Now, Arkansaurus fridayi is the Official State Dinosaur of the State of Arkansas.
With this designation, Arkansaurus now joins these nine other species as Official State Dinosaurs Stegosaurus (Colorado), Capitalsaurus (District of Columbia), Hypsibema (Missouri), Astrodon (Maryland), Triceratops (Wyoming), Paluxysaurus (Texas), Acrocanthosaurus (Oklahoma), Coelophysis (New Mexico) and Hadrosaurus (New Jersey).
But this is not the end. This is merely the beginning. Of what? Well...just stayed tuned to find out!
Hi, I'm Cypress Oury and I started the campaign to get Arkansas a State Dinosaur in 2013. I am an Arkansan 'junior paleontologist' and a high school senior.
